Does the name Anton Corbijn tell you anything?  How about Control ?                                                  Friday, 9 March 2012

Directed by Anton Corbijn, this film is about the life and death of Ian Curtis, quiet and rather sad lad who was the singer of a pioneering band called Joy Division . As you can see on the add the film is spellbinding, electrifying, magnetic, and I subscribe to this.  Based on the book by Deborah Curtis: "Touching From A Distance" the black and white scenario gives a magnificent depth to Corbijn's visual interpretation of Joy Division's living energy. If you liked I'm not There, a film by Todd Haynes then you'll definitely enjoy Control.  Bob Dylan once said "People are always talking about freedom, freedom to live  in a certain way. Of course  the more you live in a certain way the less it feels like freedom."Then what's left ... controlling the way you live ?
I had to take a break before finishing this post, just because I'm an undeclared control freak.  Our mind has the perfect design to create with precision and infinite accuracy the perfect prototype for a Control Freak. The ability to control is praised by numerous professionals and enthusiasts of this process, but is this really the way to live life? Some say that this can improve dramatically your precision as an active human being, it makes you competitive in this constantly changing world. The idea of feeling you are charge of everything it gives you power but what comes with power... pressure,  the will to get better and better, and then you get obsessed  with it. So then what to do when it feels so good to be the in charge, to be the ruler of your life. Well, wake up, you are the key player of your life, learn how to balance control and  try to also step " out" of control, simply enjoy life!
Anton Corbijn's genius doen't stop here. He's an accomplished photographer who has photographed bands such as U2, Metallica, Nirvana, Depeche Mode and many more. Check out his pretty exceptional work. Also just to go back to my big love denim, Anton's name is associated with G-Star. Their campaign as the product is pretty amazing  Therefore if you've got the genius to associate two amazing things what else than having an even more amazing outcome, can you have...
